HI I am Anand and I would like to share with you a few informative non-technical, personel tips on how to be safe when using ATMs .These tips are straight from my own experience and sincere thoughts and you can rely on them.
-Always use the ATM at busy times of the day and avoid using it at early mornings
or late evenings. These are the most probable times for getting robbed.
-Use ATMS that are at city centres where there are lot of people
around and security is close to you.Dont ever use a remotely located
ATM.
-Always lock the door of the cabin after you enter.
-dont keep using the same ATM regularly as this could attract cons.
-dont reveal your PIN code to your children coz they tend to use it
with out consulting you at desperate moments.
-Often change your PIN code and dont make the mistake of keeping
no.s like 0000, 1234, 4321, 1001, 1100. Dont keep part of your telephone
number or house address as PINS.
-Dont make the mistake of writing your PIN code in your
diary, wallet, ATM card or mobile.
-Dont hesitate to report to your bank incase you loose your credit
card.
-Safely dispose your transaction bill.dont dispose it inside the ATM
cabin or anywhere near.
-Keep a record of your balance even if you dont withdraw for a long
time.One of my friend had told me about anonymous reduction in his
balance after he started using ATM card.He later found that
his bank was cheating on him.(bank argued that
they were collecting service charges or some thing.He filed a case
and got compensation.)
-The rest is as usual. Take good care of your ATM card dont place
near working electronic equipments like TV, Video and Audio
players, computers etc.
-When you use the ATM make sure you are patient and read through all
the instructions or queries displayed in the screen carefully
and twice even if you are a familiar user.
-Under desperate situations when you can do nothing else destroy the
card.
