Check your IQ first. Review on Tips for CAT Preparation

Are you dreaming of making it to CAT then first get your IQ tested. This is what matters before anything else. Taking a ny standard Binet or weschler test and check your score. If you see that you have got a score above 140 or atleast above 135 then only think of appearing for CAT, Though the recommended score is a150+_2

Once you find that you have the level of intelligence required for clearing CAT, then get hold of some guy who has cleared CAT in past and is doing well. But before that ensure that you two share the same values. Lot's of crooks get thru in CAT, your guy should not be the one! Try to find out what really is he doing, what is the relevance of his past education in his current vocation? Ask him teasing questions.

I am sure he will resist to accept reality, but then use your intelligence and get the real things out. Try to find out is he frustated in any manner? Is he thinking of starting of his own? what were his expectation b4 joining IIMs and were they satisfied? Never ever ask him HOW TO PREPARE FOR CAT? COS mba'S ARE FOND OF GIVING CRAP, AND this is what he will also do in all probability.

After clear about the idea of an MBA profile, rethink and decide for the final time whether you still want to take up CAT, if yes you should have good genuine reason for it, and if you have one then use it at the time of interviews too. This is all you need to do for the interview, rest all is crap.

Now coming back to written exam. Having realised, that you have a good IQ, rest should be cakewalk. Some people have poor grip over language, so they canmake special efforts for improving their Garammar and vocab, though it's unnecessary.

Same is the case with other things taht is reading comprehension, quant and all. Believe me you can't change much of what you have got, by practising may be you can discover your latent talents.

A word of ADVICE - Don't listen to th estupid advice of people. A brilliant example is when people say ''to improve your reading comprehension you should read faster''. this is complete bullshit. You don't have to read fast at all. Read at your optimal speed only. Don't waste your efforts on increasing your reading speed. By practicing, you will discoverthe ways of solving the problem faster, and that si all that matters.

So, practise is all that mattters - Yes very much it is. practie regularly everyday for two to three hours, for a period of 4 months to 8 months, and u will make it if you had got IQ above 140. Even if you don't make it to IIMs, you will make it to Oneof the top institutes, i.e XLRI, Bajaj, FMS, Sp Jain etc. So go ahead and enjoy yourself.
