When this movie was started, the hero was not famous and the comedian attracted more crowds than him while shooting. Meanwhile, the hero did another movie that rocketed him to stardom and this movie rides piggyback on the success of that movie. Confused !! we are about to review Subramania Shiva directed, Dhina music directed and the Dhanush starrer Thiruda Thirudi. Yeah the name Dhanush spells magic now in Kollywood. Has he come up with another spellbinding performance ? Read on.
The movie also stars new comers Saaya Singh as the heroine, singer Manicka Vinayagam as Dhanush's father and he has done a good job too, so are the other cast members especially Dhanush's brother. Now why talk about cast first and not the story nor the screenplay. Simple answer, the movie is carried by the cast and not by the story. Dhanush along with his gang make sure they are spoilt a lot, dancing for some item numbers, getting into fights etc. in the streets of Trichy. Another movie after Run to have Trichy has the base. Once during their trip Dhanush bumps into Saaya Singh and all hell breaks loose.
Yes indeed hell it is. Dhanush and Saaya Singh keep yelling at each other whenever possible, no one worries or raises voices against all this or the song sequences with skimpy clothes or the stupid https://lyrics. Speaking of songs, Manmadha Raza is indeed catchy but the picturisation is 50.50. Some love it others just hate it. Black with black is the theme for the song. When Dhanush finally gets responsible he hops on to Chennai and gets a job only to have Saaya follow him there and finally after some more fights and a stupid song in the bus with all those yelling around, they unite.
The screenplay has some interesting moments when Dhanush and his father get into a verbal duel and Dhanush does indeed make us like him more but definetly not in the songs. Fights once again show case Dhanush and the heroine is more slim than Dhanush. What a great pair on screen??? Karunas manages to make us laugh at times. Music by Dhina is for the masses. The movie has nothing much for Dhanush to experiment and the heroine has done her job. (yelling at high pitch!). Must have thought for a different title something related to shouting.
Director Subramania Shiva has done his job, he has made sure he has utilized Dhanush's new popularity and the movie will sure help in the run the box office. The big difference in this movie is that the lead pair keep fighting till the very end. Some say this movie is all about youth then why they cry about another youthful movie by another reputed director. Do you know what are we talking about ? Keep thinking !!!
APPLAUSE : Dhanush to an extent.
AHEM! : Too much of yelling.
VERDICT : Entertainer ??? May be...!
