Standard vs Onida

I think MouthShut is just the right place for a first-timer like me to express an opinion. And thus the section, The First and the Latest seems so full of possibilities.

I clearly remember, our first television set – Standard, manufactured by a local television company. Those were the days when Doordarshan had just started airing its programs. And the major highlights in those days used to be the news, Chitrahar, and the Sunday movie.

Since, programming was at a nascent stage, how could one expect the quality of the television sets to be compared to the ones produced these days? Most of the time, our Standard was at the mechanic's shop. And in those days, unlike today, there was no provision of good service – so our television set, after returning from the mechanic would be in worse condition.

I am no expert. I am only trying to write what comes to my mind. So, I cannot comment on the technicalities of Television sets being produced today.

We have an Onida. The brand, I am really not too aware of. My husband purchased it two years ago. I feel that it is a very good set. Everything about it is just how it should be in a good television set. God picture, good sound, and good clarity.

Thank God that we have left our Standard days far behind and gone for a television that has a really good standard.
