Edward(Nicolas Cage) is a cop in a quiet Californian Town. Things take a big U turn when he fails to rescue a little girl and her mother from the flames of a car which has just got burst in a terrible accident on the highway. One day he receives a letter from his ex-fiancee, Willow(Kate Beahan) that their daughter Rowan(Erika-Shaye Gair) has been kidnapped. They are staying at an island called Summerisle. When he reaches the island, he finds that all is not right and all kinds of strange things happens. Apparently the island is inhabited mostly by a race of Women who have self-isolated themselves and others from the real world and believe in strange cults. One of which involves sacrificing young women to their Goddess in order for better Honey Harvest. This is, all done, under the watchful eye of Sister Summersisle(Ellen Burstyn). Nicolas Cage now, not only has to find hid daughter, but also, stop this inhuman practices. Nice movie for all those who haven’t watched the original 1973 movie of the same name. Good acting by everyone. Has some shocking moments. Worth a watch once, but only in a theatre.

1) Movie was made on a budget of $40 million and grossed approximately $17.4 million in the first week. Clearly a major disappointment as far as box office is concerned.

Oops-
1) One major goof was when he manages to get a signal on his mobile phone in one part of the island when there were clearly no mobile phone towers anywhere visible nor was he able to get any signal anywhere else on the island. The only way he could have done that was to have an Iridium Phone but it was clearly not an iridium phone.
