"The Walk" - Spellbound, Amazing. This was my cousin's watsapp status once he watched the movie. As everyone does, I Googled the story plot:) And yeah watched it in theatres the same weekend.
The movie is about a high wire Walker who gets inspired by the magnificence of Twin towers and wishes to perform a high wire walk between the towers.
Joseph Gordon Levitt(Jgl), narrator cum hero, standing atop of the statue of liberty and with the Twin towers as the backdrop takes us through the movie. The film takes us to the 1970s where the Twin towers was at its verge of completion.
Phillip(Jgl), an artist who runs his life through Street shows is trained By Papa Rudie(Ben Kingsley) for a high wire walk. Papa Rudie is a conventional person sincere to his profession which makes him the best teacher. Like everybody, Philip fails in his walk Over the lake. Failures never lets our hero down.
Meanwhile Philip meets Anne, a street singer who eventually turns his first accomplice.Anne helps Philip to practice in a school Park where the hero meets his second accomplice who.turns his official photographer.
Philip constantly improves and excels in public performances. He decides to move to newyork with his accomplices.
As soon as he stepped in front of the towers, his everyday work is to analyse the Twin towers, the 100 storey building. Philip visits everyday in a different disguise like a salesman., an architect, an executive etc. Amidst these he meets his other accomplices, Jeff, jp, and an agent working in 82nd floor.
With the facts and observations, Philip plans for the walk on Aug 6th at 7am. In the disguise, Philip and Jeff reach the top of the towers. Surpassing the guard, with a struggle the manage to connect the towers which are 110 ft apart with the cable.
Morn at 7a.m Philip sets himself for the walk. A feet in the building and a feet at the cable, Philip could oly view the cable and the sky. He performs his first walk between the towers. With the happiness of pursuing the dream walk, Philip made a second walk towards the other rower.As he moves, he could see the cops, which makes him to decide to stay in the cable performing.
Overall, it would be a breeze walk for the audience. Must watch movie for the persons who are passionate about their aspirations.
Few aspirations might be crazy, might seem impossible. If there is a will and the determination to do what u wish, it will drive you to achieve it.
Movie is well shot. Simple things like the lifestyle of French and Americans are well captured. The movie also teaches one tat someone can't just blindly follow his dreams. It's always about the efforts to achieve it. Nuances of hero's efforts to perform a walk are logically portrayed.
A well written well played story. If you are crazy on ur ambitions then go for "The Walk".
