Spider Man

Director ? M Night Shyamalan

Screenplay ? M Night Shyamalan

Suspense story set in a 19th century small US Village which is surrounded by a forest. The only catch is that no one in the village ventures ahead of the forest because of creatures that stay there or what they call as ?Things of which we do not speak of?. Edward Walker (William Hurt), Alice Hunt (Sigourney Weaver) and a group of elders have made a pact along with the creatures that they wont venture in to the woods and the creatures wont venture in to the village.

Things get out of turn when Alice?s son Lucius (Joaquin Phoenix) confesses to have seen the creature and the creatures start killing the live stock and other animals in the village in a very horrific manner. Things also get out of turn when One of the elder?s (John Christopher Jones) son Noah (Adrian Brody) loves Ivy (Bryce Dallas Howard) who is the blind daughter of Edward while Ivy is actually in Love with Lucius.

In a fit of rage Noah stabs Lucius. Lucius is now in need of medical aide and the only way to get medicines is to go through the woods in to the town. But that would mean breaking the pact and making the creatures angry. Ultimately Edward decides to send Ivy to the Town as she has to bear the burden of her love for Lucius. The suspense continues till the very last scene. To reveal anything more would be a crime. Although not as good as the director?s earlier films like The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable, the twist is enough to keep you talking about it even after the movie is over. Good script by Shyamalan and amazing score by John Howard. Fine performances by everyone. Although it could have easily trimmed by 10 minutes. A must watch for Shyamalan fans.

Psst ?

1) Kirsten Dunst was replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard after dropping out to star in Elizabethtown (2005).

2) Shyamalan was inspired by The Novel Wuthering Heights and The movie King kong to make this movie.

3) Movie was planned as early as mid 2001.

4) Bryce Dallas Howard was casted without going through the routine auditions.

5) Original Title of the movie was ?The Woods?

6) Shyamalan had written the role of Lucius with Joaquin Phoenix in mind.

7) Filming was completed in just 2 months with a budget of $60 Million.

8) Sigourney Weaver suffered nightmares for two weeks after reading the script.

Quotes ?

1) ?Ivy, try your very best not to scream..?

2) When we are married, will you dance with me? I find dancing very agreeable. Why can you not say what is in your head? ; Why can you not stop saying what is in yours? Why must you lead, when I want to lead? If I want to dance I will ask you to dance. If I want to speak I will open my mouth and speak. Everyone is forever plaguing me to speak further. Why? What good is it to tell you you are in my every thought from the time I wake? What good can come from my saying that I sometimes cannot think clearly or do my work properly? What gain can rise of my telling you the only time I feel fear as others do is when I think of you in harm? That is why I am on this porch, Ivy Walker. I fear for your safety before all others. And yes, I will dance with you on our wedding night.

3) We are grateful for the time we have been given.

4) Sometimes we don't do what we want to do because we're afraid that other people will know that be want to do them.

5) The world moves for love. It kneels before it in awe.

6) I see the world, Lucius Hunt. Just not as you see it.

7) I don't think of what might happen, only what must be done.

8) We have always had a gentle understanding with the creatures that live in the woods.

9) This color attracts Those We Don't Speak Of. We must bury it.

Oops ?

1) When Ivy Falls in to the pit and comes out her robe is completely covered with mud but after 1 scene they are dry.
