Being watched, are we?. Review on The Truman Show Movie

''Good afternoon, good evening and goodnight!''. This is the line Truman Burbank says to his neighbours everyday. ''Yeah, I'll take a newspaper, and one of these, for the wife'', Truman says with a laugh, and he does it everyday. He is comfronted with two bussiness pals, he hangs out with his friend after work, he comes home to his lovable wife. The days are always like this. Everyday is so predictable with him. Nothing unexpected happens to Truman. But wouldn't he notice? Christof says it best: ''We accept the reality we are given''.

The superb Plot

The movie is about Truman Burbank, played by Canadian comedian Jim Carrey. He has a job selling life insurance, he has a wife named Meryl, a best friend named Marion, and, his mother. His father died one day at sea, and one day like any other, he is confronted by his dad. He doesn't recognize it at first, best then he sees. It's his dad! He thought he died when he was a child. But when people in the city take his father away, Truman grows suspicious. Day by day, things get weirder. Sometimes he snaps, sometimes he is confused by his wife, and sometimes he asked questions. Why can't I go outside of Sea Haven? Who's stoping me? The question is answered, but we really know the trueanswer. Truman is the star of a T.V. broadcasted worldwide, and watched by millions. I like the little saying on the movie box: ''On the air, unaware.'' The city he lies in is a set, the people that interact with him are actors. His boss, his friends, even his wife. Who created something so genius? And cruel? His name is Christof, played by the great Ed Harris. He says he loves Truman, but he really loves the attention he gets. The ending is so well down, especially the talk between Truman and Christof, I won't tell you what happens.

The Acting

I really wanted to do this movie because I loved Jim carrey after this movie. He was a wacko, a nut, I would never take him seriously then BAM this movie hit me and I became a loyal fan. Although he faints some humour in this movie, the greater humour in this movie is the way he speaks to to others when he starts discovering. Especially to his wife, Meryl.

Truman: all the cars straight in, very well syncrognized, wouldn't you say?

Meryl: You're blaming me for the traffic?

Truman: Should I?

Ah, I love the brilliance. By the way, Meryl is played by Laura Liney ( a lot of Jim's co-stars are ''Laura's'' or ''Lauren's'' wouldn't you say?)and Christof, as I mention before, is beautifully played by Ed Harris (as usual). The acting here is wonderful, considering the actors are playing actors.

Did I enjoy the Movie

Oh yeah! My favourite movie so far! I wanted to review this one so badly, cause I love it so much. The idea is original, very original. The movie is directed by Peter Weir, with such credits to ''The Witness''. The screenplay is by Andrew Niccol, who wrote and directed the futuristic thriller ''Gattaca'' and the newly released ''Simone''. I love cause of Jim Carrey, the whole story and the acting. All of then are superb. That makes it my favourite movie.
