Dear Sir,
It is one of the oldest daily in our country. The credit should go to Times of India for having looked upon ''daily'' as a consumer product. This idea had forced Times of India to launch its daily in Bangalore, Hyderabad and other places by under cutting the price. Due to this undercutting, other newspapers in Hyderabad and Delhi were forced to cut their price and all papers are selling at the rate between Re.1 and Rs.1.50. The readers are benefitted due to this type of competition.
But the TOI had not contributed significantly in terms of quality of reporting nor it has established any high standards in journalism. It is good paper for those who search for jobs, want to do business and other business related advertisements. But it cannot match with The Hindu, which is one of the most quality daily with high standard of English and reporting. But no one can deny the fact that TOI had forced other papers to look upon readers as consumers by taking up various issues affecting the common man. The cartoon of Laxman is the best and we have to see how it would fare without Laxman's cartoon.
