Story:

The Three mistakes of my life is the best novel of chetan bhagat amongst all his novels. But this one too is just on a par. It cannot be said to be a fantastically written peice.

Story: the story of this novel is quite predictable. The reader can easily guess that there must be three mistakes done by the protagonist. And thus, instead of enjoying the story, I kept waiting for his mistakes. The first mistake, which occured to be a fatal disaster does bring out some sympathy in the heart for govind and is effective. But the very next mistake of making love with his friend's sister again seems very easy to guess. Reader somewhere always knows from the beginning that something like that might come. And thus, the immediate effect of the story loses it's strength. The interaction between ishaan and ali seem to be a bit too dramatic for me. Especially the last scene looks like written perfectly for a bollywood climax.

On the whole, the story does not seem to be much appealing to me. It's predictable, though chetan bhagat has at least tried to do experiment here.

Background: gujarati background and life of few young men is nicely described.

Readability: the novels of chetan bhagat are written especially to finish in a day. The novel can be a good time pass to read while travelling. But to read it as a critic or for analysing or to gain inspiration, the novel does not work much.
