Stoneman murder is a classic murder mystery. It's a story inspired by street killings of 1983 in Mumbai and 1987 in Kolkata ( Calcutta then ). It's a story of a cop who is suspended for a custodial death, and solving this case is his only chance for getting back in the force.
The movie has some good cast, with Kay Kay Menon playing the role of suspended cop. He as always was a treat to watch. His acting skills are getting better day be day. I felt he was a normal actor in starting ( ex Chaal) but as he grew in his career I felt that I was wrong about him.
His movies like “Life in a Metro”, “Strangers”, “Mumbai meri Jaan” were too good, and he has not disappointed me in this one too. A Very good show overall. Looking ahead to his next film “Gullal”.
Another good watch in the movie is probably “Arbaz Khan”. Thank god he has done something else than playing a unfaithful husband ( Ref. “Mere Khwabon mai jo aaye”, “Fashion”, “Woodstock Villa”, “Dus Kahania” etc…). This time he is a jealous cop. His role is not a meaty one. But whatever it is, he was able to do full justice to his role.
Apart from these two, “Veerendra Saxena” has played a imp part in the movie. He is the only one who helped Kay Kay Menon after he was suspended. So a very important role. I don't have too much to comment on his performance. Usually his roles are very short to comment upon, but this time when he was given a better role, I guess his performance was satisfactory.
But the acting or the cast was’t the highlight of the movie. the highlight of the movie was the plot itself. As I have already written that it's a true story inspired by the killings in 1983 and 1987, makes the story all the more interesting. It's a short movie with around 1.5 hrs runtime. But it will engross u fully and u wont like to leave ur seat for a second till the movie ends. Though the direction was just mediocre, but the plot was so good that u will never feel the downfalls of the direction.
The music was a waste. Though background score rocked. No comments about it.Overall 4.0/ 5.0 from my side. Must watch if u like murder mysteries.
