Based on the book- 'The Accidental Billionares', 'The Social Network' showcases the story behind the creation of FACEBOOK- Arguably one of the most popular sites in the world today. FACEBOOK has changed the way people network with each other. A site which connects around 500 million people today but the founder might just be one of the loneliest man on the planet. This is the story of Mark Zukerberg and Eduardo Saverin. This is a story about how bad can things go in the best of friendships. This is a story about how you ought to make a few enemies on your way to Stardom or do I say Super-stardom.

Mark Zuckerberg created 'FaceMash' that rated all the girls in the campus(whether they liked it or not) which became an instant hit although he was reprimanded by the University Council for this sacrilegious act. And when twin brothers-Cameron Winklevoss & Tyler Winklevoss along with Divya Narendra approached him to be a part of a similar project(one which was more legal and social), he agreed. But his quest for recognition and fame(and perhaps money) instigated him to develop something which was much more majestic than what they had apprehended and finally FACEBOOK was born in his dorm room with the help of his best friend Eduardo Saverin. With FB on an expansion spree, how Mark faced difficulties in both professional and personal lives and what's Sean Parker's role in Mark's life and in the evolution of FACEBOOK is what the movie is all about.

You get a glimpse of what life is all about in Harvard. Partying, pubbing, girls, drugs etc form an integral part of the lives of some of the brightest talents in the world, who when not busy with the aforementioned vocations are involved in doing stuff which brings the entire world on to their feet. One of the oldest universities in the world houses people for whom 'GENUIS' will be in all probability an underrated word. The best thing about the movie is its non-linear flow where in the incidents move back and forth in time(A touch like Christopher Nolan's Memento but not as much). The director plays a

master stroke by not individualizing the characters into good, bad or ugly. Everyone out there has his own aspirations, ambitions and thoughts without too much of scrutiny into what is right or wrong. The audience is left gasping with this unanswered question as to which category does Mark belong to!

Although it is an adaptation from 'The Accidental Billionares' but still the screenplay is top-notch. Direction is also good but the movie genuinely misses some edge-of-the-seat moments probably because it tends more towards being a non-fiction with real life characters having real life experiences. That's the reason why I believe this might not go down as too good a movie with the Indian(Read Desi) audience who are used to intense drama, action or laugh-riots.

Jesse Eisenberg as Mark portrays the character with utmost sincerity and shows how a geek should be;has his own parallel universe yet thoughtful and pragmatic with some emotions. Andrew Garfield as Eduardo and Justin Timberlake as Sean have also done justice to their characters.

I would go for 3.5/5- for this brilliant yet Non-Desi movie which will appeal to almost all Facebook fans and the Generation-Next.
