Ace of Base is an old group that many of you may not know, they were popular in the early ninety's with songs such as ''The Sign'' and ''Don't Turn Around''. They originate from Sweden, so English is their second language. You can sometimes detect their accent in their singing. They write their own songs and have a unique perspective on language, the way they word their songs, it is different, which is what the music world needs, with so many bands that sound alike. I like listening to a song and saying ''Oh, that's by so and so'' because they are unique.
Ace of Base is a dance/pop group, very upbeat. I often use their music to exercise to because it has a steady rhythym. Here's a synopsis of their album, ''The Sign''
- All that she wants
A not too virtuous song about a girl who ''uses them and loses them''. Very cool bari sax though, the music makes you feel as if evil is knocking at your door.
- Don't Turn Around
Sad song about a breakup and trying to remain strong even when you're falling apart over losing someone. It explains that sometimes you have to let people go because you love them. In the Ace of Base tradition of synthisizers and steady beats.
3.Young and Proud
Sometimes Ace of Base can be a little vague. The general message is that when you're young you need to take advantage of your youth.
- The Sign
This is a great song about a girl dumping her lover, who never did her any good. I was singing this song after my last break-up!
- Living in Danger
The world will always be a dangerous place, you just have to watch out for the lies that people try to make you believe.
- Dancer in a Daydream
Something about daydreaming. It's a little repetitive and confusing.
- Wheel of Fortune
Life's unpredictable, that's what they're saying. ''Don't count your chicks before their hatched, baby''
- Waiting for Magic
Just like Snow White, the singer is waiting for her Prince Charming, baby.
- Happy Nation
''Where the people understand and dream of perfect man'' They want what most everyone want's I imagine. ''Happy Nation'' is the Ace of Base term for ''World Peace''
- Voulez-Vous Danser
A girl that likes a guy and sings in french(I think).
- My mind
A useless pointless song, it get pretty annoying.
- All that she wants(remix)
Kind of a lame remix, the original is better. Remixes are what they do when they run out of songs, I guess.
Overall a very upbeat album about love and world peace. It's fun and doesn't force you to think to much. Okay, so they don't always rhyme, but that's okay. Let me know if you've heard of them, as they're one of my favorite groups.
