Frankly speaking I bought this book because it was in the award winning section of Flipkart and there was a good discount going on too.
I had not read any Julian Barnes book earlier, so was a bit apprehensive- considering that the award winning books are usually pretty serious and boring too.
Although the storyline is not the plus point of this book, the narrative style totally took me by surprise. After reaching the conclusion of the novel, I wished this book never ended or at least the volume was thicker. There are thought provoking moments in the story, which forces the reader to look into the inner conscience and introspection. It is deep.
Now I think Julian Barnes totally deserved a booker for this book- and calling this book a good time pass will be under-rating it. It should be a collector’s edition.
