Irving Wallace has always been a great story writer as I find his novels very compelling. Once you start reading it's really difficult to keep his novel down. I found The Second Lady very good novel. It's a really magnificent plot expertly executed by the Russian KGB. It is during the cold war period where the superpowers Russia and USA want to outdo in another.
The way the KGB finds and trains the second lady's double Anna Vavilova and her mentor Alex Razin who spends a lot of time in teaching, training her for the big moment is really highly fantastic. It breaks all bastions of creativity. Then at the summit where the Second lady is drugged and switched by her double, the dog who senses something is really wrong.
The double who has to live with the President for that her mentor getting the information out the second lady herself. Then his mentor Petrov after that ordering the Second lady's execution. Their escape from Russia and finally Anna and Razin meeting their end by the KGB's assassins.
Irving Wallace has that typical flair of plotting style where you never get bored reading his work but want to know more and more due to the active suspense he maintains till the end of his book. I read a lot of other such espionage type books but none are as interesting as this. Other titles which are really worth readable by him are: 1) The Miracle and 2) Seventh Secret.
