Now, before I start the review, let me clarify few things first. I am a big fan of Leonardo diCaprio and I have seen all of his movies. When I say all I mean it literally all of his movies. Recently, I started liking Tom Hardy as well. I enjoyed watching his performance in The batman the dark knight rises, Locke and Mad Max fury road. Somehow this movie was not up to the mark.
After watching this movie, it reminded me of Apocalypto and The grey. You take Apocalypto and The grey and add some revenge into it and you will get The revenant. I enjoyed watching The grey more than The revenant. I don't say the story is based on these two movies but these movies are much more thrilling than The revenant.
The director of the movie tries to show the struggle of people for survival. The hardship of life and the strength and courage of one person. This movie is based on a true story. I respect the struggle of Hugh Glass(character played by Leonardo diCaprio). It must be very hard for him and even harder than what actually shown in the movie.
The movie is all about revenge. We heard quote from the movie that, revenge is in God's hand, than why don't Leonardo in first place forgives Tom hardy? There are many goof ups in the movie if you watch closely. The story was not very well portrayed. People who have watched The grey would agree with me.
I will tell one such example in here:
When the Indians attack after Leonardo has freed the Indian girl from French guys, he fires one shot when he is on the ground and another when he mounts and rides on his horse away. He does not reload the gun in between and the gun he is using is a single shot. There are other goof ups as well but as in SRK's words:
Badi Badi Filmo main aisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain.
Now, if you are a die hard fan of Leonardo diCaprio or Tom hardy(just like me) than you can watch this movie for once. Even some critics have given thumbs down to this movie. You can surely skip this one from Leonardo. I wish he wins Oscar soon.
P.s. This movie might get an Oscar entry and as I have heard people saying that not all movies who gets entry in Oscars or wins an Oscar are worth watching. Examples are The birdman, the english patients, milk and many more.
