Get Life! Get Real!
A rude statement conveyed in so many forms yet realistic literally. The blatant truths of life are harsh and difficult to face.
But reality is cashed nowadays in forms of reality and chat shows, for just the obvious reasons
+A human being is extremely inquisitive in nature
+People derive enjoyment at the expense of others
+Its always great to know that the other person’s life is more screwed up than yours
+Its free, its real and people enjoy the drama unfolding on the screen in form of various emotions rather than wasting their energy on daily soaps
The latest addition to the queue is The Rakhi Sawant Showz, displaying an ever effervescent Rakhi dipped in a bathtub full of Red hot chilies. The fonts used are that of Retro style( like OmShanti Om) and the preliminary rushes on TV also showed Rakhi dressed up in Retro style attire.
The show was introduced with maximum hoopla and required publicity. The initial news was that Gulshan Grover walked out of the show because he got cold feet the suspense still remains for what reason.
So they chose to start with a bang with Aamir Khan,which was quite commendable considering Aamir Khan’s image of not entertaining paparazzi and unnecessary showbiz.
But then probably all the due credit goes to the Rakhi factor of the show.
Why Choose Rakhi?
Though I have just viewed one episode of the show, it seems to be a sure shot winner for just the apparent reason:Rakhi Sawant. The Lady and I would stress on the word Lady has always impressed me with her honest, bold ,I-care-a-da*n attitude and being a normal male I am, the oomph factor. Her approach may be criticized by many but it has always struck me well.
For preliminaries I noticed her on Karan Johar’s chat show where she was on the guest chair; her attitude held confidence and spoke volumes about her. She was not at all concerned that she was not fluent in English, she spoke of herself with a considerable respect and fore mostly she was not in awe of Karan Johar; which I saw most of the guests were on Koffee with Karan.
The channel has played a brilliant shot in form of choosing Rakhi , for as they say about her love her or leave her but can’t ignore her.
With the first show she proved her mettle by speaking and querying to Aamir about the topics which nobody else could have dared approach. Her manner was simple and confident and she knew how to get under his skin without prodding a lot.Aamir appeared quite comfortable with her and probably her easy attitude will do wonders to the show. The brainless bimbo concept is also what works for the show.Just
when they think that Rakhi is the most stupid one around and try to
show their intelligence they get caught by her ,like Aamir Khan did. Probably thatswhy the actor had no qualms in coming to her show. He probably never realised that Rakhi's brainless bimbette image hides a smart head too.
A noticeable factor here was that she did not have that mightier-than-thou attitude which I found in KJos and Simi Garewal’s shows which made the guests extremely uncomfortable and they tried to act fake or dignified.In short with Rakhi they don’t have to pretend or be artificial.
The Show
For I had to literally blackmail my cousin to record the show for me because sadly I was in transit when this show was inaugurated on this Saturday. And the ardent fan I am I saw at least three replays on my return.
The Show was a big relief after the torture I endured on the runs and reruns of Rendezvous with Simi Garewal aka “use a tissue baby”(preferred Cyrus’ Rendezvous with Semi Girebaal anyday). For Simi Garewal ‘s brainless remarks like “How did you handle the trauma of etc etc.” and the artificial dabbing of tears , irked me to no end. The way she held her hand against her chest and sighed or chuckled was completely unnatural.
On the other hand Koffee with Karan, was though a little better than Simi’s , but still time and again I felt that guests were in awe of Karan and had that plead completely written over their faces “Sign me next!”.
While the first episode of this show has hooked me for obvious reasons
+Rakhi Sawant and her confidence of getting along with anything, how much bold it maybe.
+Aamir Khan’s ease with her and an obvious hope that if she can get HIM to speak than she has the potential. She dared to speak up that she preferred Reena to Kiran Rao and confidently went along it. For which all Aamir Khan could muster was some relationships are not meant to be.
Though she praised him sufficiently and gave a required boost to his ego..
+No pretenses and the conversation was kept intelligently on a light note, yet was meaningful.
+The show and host complemented each other perfectly.
+The spoof she played on Rendezvous by imitating Simi, extending a hand to Aamir and showing gratitude.
The next show guest is Vidya Balan and I won’t be least surprised if Rakhi uses her sweet killer demeanor to query her about her drastic dressing sense or Shahid Kapoor with the same ease and confidence.
