The Queen is the story of how the British monarchy behaved during the week following Princess Diana's tragic death. It is a frank and free film especially since the personal dialogues between the Queen and Prince Philip or with her mother could not possibly have come to the knowledge of any script writer.

The film begins when Tony Blair is elected the Prime Minister of England but has to wait for Her Majesty to invite him into being one-that is the protocol. The way he and his wife enter the Queen's chamber, how he falters when he asks her permission to become the Prime Minister and she calmly says that it is her prerogative to ask him, is beautiful. The dialogues when the royalty learns fof Diana's death are superb. When Prince Chalrles says that he should cahrter a flight, the Queen retorts that people will say they are spending money extravagantly.

The whole family retire to Balmoral in Scotland to be away from the public eye. It was news that the Queen was a mechanic earlier, or that she could drive so well. One never thought that royalty needs to drive their own vehicles.

Tony Blair(Call me Tony) the Prime Minister is shown to be very smart and very sympathetic towards the Queen whom he advises and quietly manipulates s that she becomes a heroine in the public eye. The public who came in millions after the shocking death of Diana, criticises the roayl family for running away from Buckinghalm palace after the tragedy. But when the Queen comes back, on the advise of the PM and sees the flowers and the messages, waves to the public, they all readily reinstate her in their minds and hearts as the beloved Queen and believe'Long Live the Queen.'
