Curiosity was the only reason I saw this movie as I had recently seen the original and I found that most of the humour was outdated and wasn't really that funny for me.

Luckily this movie did more than just satisfying my curiosity and was thoroughly entertaining.

Steve Martin was clearly the star of the movie and his portrayal of Inspector Jacques Clouseau though over the top, slapstick and loud was clearly lovable. It was nice to see the bigger (though cheesy) effort to portray a Frenchman by Steve compared to Peter who just wore a thin moustache and we were to assume he was french.

Kevin Kline and Jay Reno were as expected great though Jay Reno was wasted in this movie.(Its sad that an actor of his potential is used and wasted in all hollywood movies that have anything to do with france or the french).

Beyonce and Emily provide the Eye candy and I was surprised to see that Beyonce can act.

The humour obviously is cheesy slapstick, loud physical and very Steve Martin (I was constantly reminded of Jim Carrey) and if you don't like his brand of humour then this movie is not for you.

Some of the scenes though really stupid were hilarious such as the Hamburger pronouncing scene in the airport and and the interrogation scenes (good cop bad cop).

However you do get over-saturated by the humour sometimes and this proves the undoing of most not so great comedy movies.

Also the few adult jokes were actually quite racy and were a welcome break (or can be embarrassing) in a PG rated movie.

I would have liked to see a few more racist(french and/vs American)jokes though (could have added a few intelligent jokes).

The other problem one has with this movie is that the legendary Pink Panther theme was hardly used in this movie (only in the beginning and the end) and it was a waste of such a legendary theme.

All in all a good movie, which is not great because it gets to saturating at times (and to cartoonish at times too, reversing the electrodes of the battery in a wheel chair seems like a joke in a tom and jerry cartoon).

A must watch if you like Steve (and maybe Carreys)movies, and your prepared to leave your sensibilities at home and have a rocking time.
