Hi

The Passion of the Christ?..

A movie which is based on the final 12 hours of Christ?s life. A horrific description of what Christ actually went through at the end of his life.

The movie is definitely not recommended for children or people with heart trouble (my recommendation) because of its graphic content.

The movie begins at the Garden of Gethsamany, where Christ is shown praying to God his father. His prayers are pleadings made to his father to avoid him the pain that he is about to go through, an indicator that he was just as any human being on earth with the only difference being, he knew the reason for his existence and what is going to happen of him.

The movie then continues with him being presented before Pontius Pilate and then he eventually being handed over to be scourged and later crucified.

Here is where the gory scenes of violence and blood creep in.

Questions are being asked as whether this was really required?

I would say yes, they were. Why? Because this movie aimed to depict what Christ went through and scientists doing their research on this subject agree that the violence that he went through were 10 times of what was depicted.

The best scenes in the movie were:

  1. The meeting of Mother Mary and Jesus Christ

  2. When Jesus himself went and laid himself on the Cross.

Some things are certainly shown different in this movie. The fact that Pilate was very kind to Jesus is not quite acceptable to anyone.

But this was done just to flush out any kind of anti-Semitic (hatred against Jews) feelings.

Also commendable is the use of the Devil all through the movie to entice Jesus to give up what he is doing. When that did not happen the Devil is shown trying to entice Mother Mary so that she would flinch.

A lot has been said about the movie The Passion of the Christ, while most would recommend it and some would not. I have nothing to say against people not recommending the movie to others.

But for people doubting the intentions of Mel Gibson in making this movie, let me share with you something, the reason why this movie was made.

A young man was once brutally assaulted and his face completely destroyed and disfigured. He was earlier a very handsome looking person with a desire to join the circus as a trapeze artist. But this accident caused him to join the circus as ?THE MAN WITHOUT A FACE?

The young man could not take it any longer and so he went to a church to pray to God one last time before he could kill himself. The priest overheard him praying and talked to him and someone managed to get the idea of suicide out of his head. The priest went a step further and consulted his friend who was a Plastic Surgeon, who gave this young man a face (without charge).

This young man then decided that he will one day do something to glorify the Lord. And it is since then that Mel Gibson wanted to make this movie, to thank the Lord for giving him a life again.

He wanted to make this movie for a long time, but even Mel Gibson, the super star of Hollywood could not get finance for his movie which is why he invested all his money into this movie, his one passion, the Passion of Christ.

P.S. The hands that were crucifying Jesus to the Cross were Mel Gibson's hands.
