Introduction
The man has started life from scratch and had fought his way to the top. He didn’t have any God Father or star father or even a mere father to support his career. Hence, he adopted a typical, aggressive style and retorted to shamelessly self-propagative statements like ‘I am the Best’.
At 41, and as the only earning member of his family, he doesn’t see the need to retire or slow down. So, out of mere habit, he would try his best to remain among the top stars and earn as much as possible. That’s what I knew about SRK till I saw his bio pics named ‘Inner/Outer Life of SRK’.
*Behind the facade
Watching it was like peeking in to the mind of a celebrity. I was impressed by the truth behind the belief that ‘Celebrities are Narcissists and stardom is their Narcissistic Supply Source’! Unlike, a normal person, his life minus stardom is drab and less than perfect.
I came to realize this as I observed that he is tragically self-absorbed that he could talk gibberish to anyone who listens. He talks and talks; pointless speech rushing along random streak of thoughts with his sad, overtly rhetoric voice. It would greatly sadden him, if no one listens.
The loss of parents in an early age has created a void which no amout of material success could suffice. Almost 15 years after their demise, he still misses them, particularly immediately after an achievement like say getting an award. He is searching for the lost meaning of existence through parenthood. He claims that he is himself only when he is with his children.
SRK's luxurious, bungalow flauntingly named as ‘Mannat’ is his only secure, cocoon of retreat. It’s clear that he goads friends with luxury of gifts and other allowances so that they would never leave him. .
He says the intention of this pic is to show that celebrities live a normal life too. In a truly Scarlett-O-Hara style, he lives with the illusion that he could always do something and everything required to prevent success, fame, power and money from slipping away.
But the truth is that, success, power and money are not the real means of gaining happiness. He wouldn’t be happy, unless he learns to let go of transient fame and succeeds in re-discovering his real self.
Conclusion
The hidden message in these documentaries is not at all the crappy self-gratification as it appears to be like. These documentaries are perhaps yet another substantial proof that there is a lot of sadness behind the façade of this Super Star.
