Well this place is the closest pub you could have near home, especially for those living in Vasant Kunj. The food is good and the pub area comfortable. Both the mughlai spread and the chinese cuisine are worth ordering more times than one! But there are a few Chinese dishes that could have been well prepared, especially those with the honey flavour. The last time I ordered it (more than a year back), it was not upto the mark. Maybe they have sacked the chef by now!!
The flip side to this beautiful place is the market on the ground floor. The shops on the ground floor are disgustingly maintained with filth and paper strewn all over. Not that these guys cannot keep the place clean, but being Indian, we have to show our real traits. If they could merely keep the stairway area neat, access to Orient Tavern would have been a little more pleasing. But once you are inside the restaurant, you are in a little world all by yourself. Young and old, singles and families can all come and enjoy the food and drinks. There's never been a tiff over those stiff ones poured out by the staff. The place is worth visiting. The walls within have interesting artefacts. Not to forget this hotel was initially started by an enterprising Sikh gentleman who should of course get the credit for doing up the place. But the present management should also share the glory for maintaining the place so well!!
The restaurant also takes orders over phone from residents of Vasant Kunj. Fro those staying in Sector D, pocket 3 and 4, this place is walking distance. Now that means there is no worry of being caught drunk while driving!
