We'd won a 3 day stay at 'The Orchard Greens' Manali as a free-gift on our purchase of Samsung window AC. And decided to check this out as a trip to Manali had long been on our itinerary. We'd booked the room in advance and were delighted with the hotel.
We stayed there for 3 days and found it really good. The rooms are spacious, clean and ours had a breathtaking view of the apple orchard and hills. The food, room service are excellent. I'd suggest trying the delicious French fries and Chinese food there. Nonveg. is also quite resonable and tasty. It is not very far from the Mallroad and while walking down it to the Mall road is fun as its a down ward slope all the way and the scenery is straight out of some English countryside. We'd gone there in November and found the place a riot of autumn colours. The walk back may be a bit tiring as it's all uphill but there are friendly rickshaws, who are more than ready to take you there any time of the day !
If you're planning a visit to Manali, make sure you go there before heavy snowfall closes down the way to Rohtang Pass. This happens around 16-17th Nov. and we were lucky that ours was among the last trips to that wonderful place, which has to be seen to be believed. Kids would specially love the romp in the snow and mule rides there while you can just get lost in each other's eyes and fool yourself for the moment that you're on the **moon!
