Object of My AFfection. Review on The Object of my Affection Movie

Reshma's review on the same has tempted me to write one of my own. Instead of commenting on that, I thought why not write about a film that I have watched a few times and guess loved it as well.

Object of my affection is a love story with a twist. In fact it is one of the most realistic stories I have seen. Even if you remove the pivotal point of the script - that is the male character being gay.

Hasn't it happened to you ever? That you fall in love with your best friend and he or she does not see you in that light? Or someone you cherish dearly as a friend comes upto you one fine day and says that they love you and you don't know how to react. In fact more often than not there is a drift in the friendship as well.

That could also be why so many friends who could have been great lovers do not end up being with each other. Because if the feeling is not mutual then you don't want to lose the friendship that you have.

The fact that the male character in the film is gay, his reason for not loving Jennifer Aniston back is justified. Otherwise how could you not love your best friend that you in more than one ways already love?

There are a few scenes that I really like in the film. The dancing sequence of course is pretty cool. Again using the liberty of the fact that the guy is gay and he doesn't mind taking dancing lessons - the pair does some great salsa and ballroom dancing. Which in effect is effectively used in the wedding sequence as well.

The Thanksgiving scene where the older man says the golden words: There are times when the object of your affection doesn't feel the same for you. Kind of putting the whole story into perspective.

And then again a happy ending where everybody is friends again. A positive outlook to life and what it offers, must say.

Sometimes when you are rejected by someone you love like I mentioned earlier, it is a great feeling if you can overcome that phase and resume being friends. Even with an ex for that matter.

Some relationships go beyond just being lovers. Friends after all are forever.
