If you're an incurable romantic like I am, then The Notebook is a great movie to watch.

My only disappointment was that this movie is seriously underrated. It deserves a place as one of the Top Ten Romantic Movies of all time (and that includes Bollywood movies too.

It starts with an ordinary old man who lives in a nursing home and reads to a fellow in-patient, an old woman whose memory has faded from an old notebook.

Written on the pages of the notebook is the remarkable story of two young people - Noah and Allie - and the tale of their love.

In the summer of 1940, Noah first set eyes on Allie at the local county fair. Both seventeen, he was a local lad while she was a city girl from a rich family on vacation. For him, it was love at first sight and though it took her a little bit longer (a girl's gotta play hard to get, y'all!), it isn't long before they're madly in love.

They have nothing in common except their intense passion, which poses a problem for her parents especially Allie's mother who isn't too keen on her daughter getting involved with 'trash' as she calls Noah.

Thanks to the mother, Allie and Noah break up and packs the whole family up to go home. Not even being able to say goodbye, Noah writes 365 letters - one for every day to his lady love.

Obviously, Allie doesn't receive those letters - again courtesy of her mummy dearest and she begins to think that that Noah has forgotten her. Because she didn't reply to his letters, he thinks the same.

After both think they've lost their one true love, life goes on. Then as if destiny has a hand in it, their path cross again...with complications.

Allie is engaged to Lon, a wealthy businessman whom her parents naturally approve of. She loves him, but her feelings for him are not as intense as her feelings for Noah were.

Anyway, she's just had her wedding dress fitted when a certain newspaper article sends her world upside down and she has only one thing to do - confront her past.

Allie meets Noah again after seven years and before long, their passion is reignited leaving Allie with a very important decision to make. Will true love triumph over all else.

Everyone is truly outstanding in their performance especially Rachel McAdams who plays Allie. What is more beautiful than the story itself is the beautiful location the movie is shot in. There's a scene where Noah and Allie are rowing in a boat on a lake and there are all these beautiful white birds sitting on the lake - it's heavenly!

This movie is truly a gem!
