It leaves you spellbound and wanting for more, but that's the beauty of this innocent but real life romantic drama.
Plot :- A false lunchbox delivery simulates movies theme that "sometimes wrong turns could lead one to the right places". The movie is well thought and screenplay is artistically scripted. Where Irfaan's awesome dialogue delivery leaves you smiling, nawazuddin's point in time entry with his signature 'Hello Sir' keeps you gelled to your seats. It portrays many aspects of human life - a gov employee taking an early retirement but feels apprehensive with the thought of being replaced with a young cub; a housewife feeling sidelined and wishing to live her dreams leaving vicious circle of unappreciated daily household work, finally enlightened at the death of her father, listening to her mother; dabbawalla's finding joy in their seamless lunchbox deliveries during any season; change in behavior of innocent children who are often shouted by Irrfan for playing next to his door; a connection between housewives who share daily experiences and emotional turbulence...
Songs haven been beautifully used and elongated to create an added lasting emotional effect to situations.
Many dialogues may stick with you right after the movie, but one that really stood out and was also humorous and touching was when Nawajuddin replies to Irfaan in the local train. He says 'Ammi kehti thi bolne se wazan aata hai'. You could feel both the humor from this dialogue and sadness from the fact that he is orphan but still finds ways to lighten up. There are many such instances which leave your feelings in a split.
I just loved this movie for its simplicity and strong theme. The movie stands out in an era when masala movies with lungi songs and unnecessary mouth2mouth scenes are becoming a formula.
Do watch for Irfaan and Nawazuddin, and a powerful theme.
