‘My words are matter of pride’...sense Life’s Majestic message!

My avid affair with Walt Disney Pictures is growing stronger day by day .Somehow I am smitten by their each production be it classics…like ‘Finding The Nemo’, ‘The Lion king’, or be it various cartoon series of ‘Tom and Jerry’, ‘Winnie the pooh’....and it goes on. Not only for the reason of purifying your set of lungs but it has always proved to be nourishing food for intellectuals to palate. I feel each scene is enveloped with deeper meaning …

Today, I still remember my experience with ‘The Lion king’ an animated classic narration from this admirable ‘Walt Disney’…Way back in 1994, during the time when I was in Durban with my NRI cousins; I was little unhappy when they opted for this movie as a break; but after watching it (in theatre) I found myself totally mesmerized by its technicality, paintings, animations….story line....emotions. Thereafter I never regretted watching this movie. Till today its effect, impact is intact and growing deeper in me but silently. This movie has found first place in my VCD collections. Every time I watch it I get to understand its underlined deep meaning. This movie continues to rule my heart with its timeless story and uplifting messages of courage, loyalty and hope.

It was made in 1994 scoring best music song “Can you feel the love tonight”. Elton John begged this award.

Mufasa-Loin king father, Sarabi-Loiness queen mother, Simba– Lion cub,

Nala- Lioness friend...life time partner, Zazu... Scar-young brother of Muffasa, three Hyenas….Shenzi, Banzai,Ed, Timon- lizard, Pumbaa- warthog as supporting friends who are really funny... are the key characters making story worth watching.

In the start our soul is awakened by the heraldic song ‘THE CIRCLE OF LIFE’ -where whole universe awakes by the horizon of gleaming rising sun...and it comes to life which is just beautiful! The happiness of dancing animals shown can only be under the safe hands of rule-glorious pride king-‘Mufasa’. The royal ceremony held for little cub that is Presentation of ‘Simba’ –the future king…is duely respected by all which is due to the creditability earned by of course the whole dynasty of past kings…!! Each one bowing rightly in benign foot of PRIDE LOYAL KING ‘Mufasa’…the majestic king of ‘PRIDE ROCK’!!

During this presentation the Expression of cub when held high in front of whole kingdom is note worthily animated. It says as if he is happy as though but at the same bewildered being at top in front of whole kingdom!

“Life’s not fair .You shall never see light of another day” that’s villainous ‘Scar’ entry who plays with his food- little mouse emitting out his frustration... exhibits his dirty mind who later on kills his own brother ruthlessly in greed of power...As usual!

The touching preaching of loving father Mufasa to his curious cub during his trail to the kingdom territory which I personally feel every parents of today should impart to their growing kids: “As king everything you see exists together in delicate balance... As king you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures from crawling ants to leaping antelope…When we die our bodies become grass and antelope eat the grass. So we all are connected to great struggles of life.” I think if we understood digested this message perfectly well in our life than this world would be definitely a better place to live in!!

The impatient little cub Simba is too much excited to be like his father …Mufasa (needless to say is brave king). He just can’t wait to be king. This heroic spirit of course leads him to further trouble through his villainous uncle who misguides him to tress pass territory ruled by hyenas though forbidden and warned by his father. “I laugh in face of dangers” says this little kid not knowing the gravity of such behavior who disobeys his father by entering forbidden territory of Hyenas. Timely help from father... Of course pride father is always cocooning and protecting his little cub ...and Simba is saved from mess.

Simba’s late realization for his mistakes is shown (before the dialogues) through Comparison of self small paw getting lost when stepped into big paw of his king father. This scene has made its impact grow deeper on me.

Loving father confronts him to correct ...teach him lesson for his mistakes.

He lovingly with fun and strictness teaches the important lessons of life his son in spite of him creating blunder.

When Simba is confronted by his angry father listen to this dialogue which is very meaningful to each life:

‘You deliberately disobeyed me…whats worse you put Nala into trouble….’says his concerned father Mufasa

Meek voice of frightened cub says: ‘I was just trying to be brave like you.’

‘I AM ONLY BRAVE WHEN I HAVE TO BE!’ Says realistic king “BEING BRAVE DOES NOT MEAN YOU GO LOOKING FOR TROUBLES …I thought I might loose you.”

‘We will always be together’ says unsecured little cub.

“Let me tell you something that my father told me look at the stars…The great kings of past look down on us from those stars. So just remember whenever you feel alone those kings will always be there to guide you so will I be.”

Uncle Scar’s Conspiracy to kill both Mufasa and Simba does work out with hyenas but in that Simba is saved.

I just loved and got highly impressed by this aerial view showing Scar leaving behind Simba waiting under small tree... giving illusive hope of dad coming and gifting him surprise.

Whole maddening herds of slump hyenas-stampede wants to take away ….Simba to death….but protective father fights back bravely and succeeds in placing him safely on the rock but again gets drifted by herds…when he scrawls up for the help…instead... Scar ditches him ,fling him to death…

The pride king and father die in this stampede saving his sons life…

When everything is finished little cub is not able to take his loving father death. This reality is bitterly shown: ‘Dad get up, come on got to go home! Help! But he just hears his own echo: ‘somebody, anybody…’ and is totally lost in his own echo. Despaired with grief….helplessness…..again scar works out his malicious mind by making him believe he was responsible for his father’s death…and advices to run away to another land. With same guilt he runs away saving himself from slump hyenas trailing him to kill ….but he manages to escape this preplanned death by his own uncle Scar!

This is how Scar succeeds in placing him as king of pride stone...

The blue Simba finds support of hilarious friends- Timon- lizard, Pumbaa- warthog ….and learns new message to carry on life forgetting past ‘when world turns back on you, turn your back on the world’ .He grows up like them unlearning his staunch beliefs, role...genes…which he adapts… ‘Hutuna Matata’: It means no worry...’Trying to adapt new carefree style he wishes to forget his past...but always remains with him heavy burden of guilt-guilt of having killed his own father! He forgets his regal responsibilities.
