Hey folks!Glad to tell you that Mr.Santoshi is back in full form again. He had never lost his touch, but then,in recent movies it was there in flashes. But this flick carries his stamp throughout, right from the beginning when they show bodies being smuggled out of the jail.At last here is a movie which will inspire and move you and make you think about the different kind of folks who were a breed apart.

Right from the beginning of the movie you are absorbed into the maelstrom that was Bhagat Singh's life. His radical feelings that were translated into action are vividly brought out on to the silver screen. The movie at times gives you the feeling as if you are watching a docu drama but that feeling soon vanishes. The characterisations are very good, the cast is properly introduced especially Sukhdev and Rajguru.

The script is not afraid to voice out anti-Gandhi feelings.Bhagat Singh was sympathetic to Gandhi's way of fighting for freedom, but later,he developed a distaste for it and decided to do things his own way, which earned him the title of a terrorist. The script has explored his life in detail and his reasons of doing everything he did.It is done in a refined manner and not the pop patriotism that we are subjected to in Hindi movies!

Ajay Devgan as Bhagat Singh is too good and his intensity comes across to you in waves. His eyes convey a lot of his feelings and he has mastered the art of acting very well.Of course, he had Raj Kumar Santoshi to elicit that performance out of him.Sushant Singh as Sukhdev is also very good and of late he has come out with good performances like the one in 16 December.D.Santosh as Rajguru is simply great and he is a find.He is supposed to be a great artist in the Marathi Theatre as my friend remarked to me.The set pieces are very authentic and a lot of time and effort has gone into making this movie and I urge you to see this movie. Many of us are not aware of the achievements of this hero and even I was not aware of it till I saw this flick.Editing is sharp and photography is superb.Of course, A.R.Rehman does full justice to the score that he has come out with.Especially the Rang de Basanti Chola number.

The movie moves you a lot especially towards the end when you know that the end is inevitable.Almost all of us are aware of how Bhagat Singh met his death but still the final sequences move you.A mention of Akhilendra Mishra as Chandrashekar Azad should be done.He delivers a bravura performance and it was expected of him since he is a stage actor.Very intense indeed. There are chances of Ajay Devgan winning the National Award unless someone pips him to it from the Regional Cinema category.See this movie by all means. It is highly recommended of the two Bhagat Singh movies.
