For starters, I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who has a budget in mind. We stayed on a real package deal with breakfast included.
The good things first - the hotel is beautiful, the pool is absolutely clean. The complimentary breakfast in the package is awesome, the rooms are perfectly clean, beautiful fish in the lagoons.
Now the rest - the place is absolutely dead, we went over the weekend, there was a DJ but no one on the floor. So if you are looking for some fun forget it. Most guests are on an extended ego trip. One of the ladies sitting ahead of me in the drop facility bus had a problem with me humming to my kid. This is just an example. You pay a bomb for meals - which is how the hotel makes up for the low package rate. There are no good restaurants around. Just one single burger cost us about approx Rs.600 plus at the hotel. You need to take a buggy to everywhere you go. If your child likes the buggy ride, forget it - you have the boys telling you "better to take a walk since it's a shorter distance to your room." So much for staying at a five star. The lagoon stinks. It's more like what one would call a "khadi" in local hindi dialect. Also, most seaside restaurants are shut down during the rains.
Tip - if you walk out of the hotel gates on the main road straight ahead, and post 50 metres take the lane to your left, a few metres ahead is a restaurant called Fisherman's Wharf (not sure of the name) where you can flavour the local cuisine at 1/4th the leela rates and a better local ambience.
My recommendation....if you like the package rate, take it - only if you have your own vehicle, so you can drive down wherever you wish to. Also eat out...The food is not just worth the price.
