The husband and I went to The Leela's Great Wall(their chinese restaurant) for dinner one night. We really liked the ambiance at the restaurant, but the service left much to be desired.
We ordered drinks almost as soon as we sat down. There were maybe three tables occupied in the entire restaurant, so I cannot imagine an excuse for why the drinks took upwards of half an hour to arrive! When they finally did make an appearance, imagine my dissapointment when my martini glass was half full. Now I am a regular martini drinker in New York, and I expect any restaurant of The Leela's to keep up with some international standards. I asked our server if there was a mistake, and he seemed confused-just kinda grinned at us. I hate to complain or make a scene at any restaurant, so I let it pass.
Later when the manager came around asking us if we were having a good time(a routine round of the tables I imagine), I told him(very politely, since I hate rudeness) about the incident with the martini. He just smiled and said "thanks"!:)
So even though the food was good, and we had a good time, the drink incident totally eclipsed that. When I spend 5K on a dinner for two, I expect good service. Needless to say, I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.
