I stayed at the Leela Hotel back in 2000. Compared to some other 5 star hotels, I thought the inside of this hotel was very beautiful, right from the lobby to various restaurants to the spacious & well decorated room.
We arrived at the hotel on a Thursday so it wasn't too crowded. We checked in our bags, freshened up & went to get a bite to eat as it was around lunch time. We dined at the Waterfall cafe, food was pretty good, service was decent & we had a nice view of the garden & the pool outside. But for some reason the place was completely empty except from my husband & I. Anyway, after lunch, we wanted to go for a drive around the Juhu are but couldn't do so because there was no car available for another 2 hours, which was quite strange for a hotel of this calibre. So we decided to make the best of it & check out the hotel. It sure was a pretty hotel. We walked around the pool area, had a nice cocktail, then went to the hotel's shops in the ground floor, sat in the lobby lounge & listened to a pianist.
In the evening, we had dinner at the hotel's Indian restaurant, known as the Indian Harvest. Though we forgot to make a reservation & there was no seating available, we smooth talked our way in & got us a table. Interestingly, Shekar Suman was also dining in the table next to us but we were more concerned & preoccupied by the lovely ghazals being sung by one of the singers. The music set us in just the right mood to have some kababs, biryani & Indian wine.
The food was very good, maybe the wine also helped the taste :) But all in all, Indian Harvest will remain in our memories & we would love to go dine there again, although I'm not sure we would stay at the Leela again, only because the new JW Marriott seems alot more pratical due to its location in Juhu. But all in all, The Leela was a very nice hotel around the airport area.
