I got to see this in the theatres the day before I went into labor with my third child. That event put the movie out of my mind until I got the DVD for my second child for her birthday.

From the perspective of a parent, this is one to grow on. Even very young children will enjoy the bright colors and action (although they might be frightened of all the explosions). But as they grow they will see layer after layer of meaning.

Yes, it's a terrific movie! Great characters, animation, sound, plot; it's all there and it's all good. But what raises this to a level that will be hard to match is all the family things. I know that I think my husband is Mr. Incredible in a down-to-earth way. He, too, has talents that are going unused and unappreciated; he slogs to a job every day just like Bob Parr's. I've seen that same harried, tired look on his face. And I love the sacrifices he's making for us. I, like Helen, feel pulled so many ways every day I'm going to injure myself. It is incredible that there is a movie that recognizes all these things!

Now, the DVD: it includes all kinds of great extras! The blooper real is hilarious. Jack-Jack Attack is what happened to Jack-Jack while the rest of the family was gone--it's got to be the funniest short ever made--what DO you do with a baby that can transport right out of its diapers? The short from the movie release, Boundin', is also fun and morally good. And the great little Easter Eggs, like Frozone, Bob, and Dash fighting for the remote; or Buttons and Doors--highly entertaining! Just stay on the menu and you'll see omnidroids appear at the top of the screen. Click on one and you'll see these hidden surprises.
