I started reading The Incredible Banker after I had read If God Was A Banker. I must say Ravi's writing style has become more gripping over time and his writings are real page-turners.
What makes TIB more interesting is that the story is related to an issue that shook the foundation of the Indian financial system a couple of years back. The relevance of combating money laundering cannot be undermined - and Ravi's story telling brings out that relevance very clearly. The story, in the guise of a fiction, educates the Indian reader about this form of crime and sends a clear message - if you want to be safe, you should be informed.
The author has put together the whole story very well, and has managed to keep one interested throughout the book, by interlacing a corporate banking environment, with terrorism, adultery, greed, suspicion, romance and current affairs.
The climax I strongly felt was hurried, the author could have been more descriptive of the incidents, it makes me feel that Mr. Subramanian had a budget on the number of pages, and once he reached his limit, he cut short the story accordingly.
This book has all the aspects of a bollywood flick and it would be a shame, if this story does not appear on the silver screen, Manirathinam, K. Balachander, Ashutosh Gowariker, Madhur Bhandarkar, are you listening(reading)!
Overall, a good book, with an absorbing story.
