Guru ho gaya Shuru !!!!!!!!. Review on The Guru Movie

There is this trend of NRI movies with a new one hitting Indian screens every 6 months. Some are good, some are funny, some try to be funny with sick culture jokes and expect people to laugh at those. All the above ones are basically targetted at Indian market. The Guru is different because its not entirely dependent on Indian market and I guess that is its biggest strength. While some movies try to be so called Bold by poking unwanted fun at our cultural values, this one uncannily does the same on the overstressed media crazy American Psyche.

The movie starts with Ramu (Jimi Mistry), a dance teacher with most of his students being hip hopping oversized wannabe page 5 material Aunties, setting out for the land of dreams, America. His hot pursuit to find a break in movies lands him at an audition for a porn movie. His innocent looks and the oozing male sensuality attarcts the attantion of the movie maker and he finds himself doing a weird porn movie sence with pornstar (Heather Graham). Now this is one of the most hilarious sence in the movie though I could see some females shaking their heads and a couple of them walking off. A complete disaster at the sence has him losing his job. While being back at the hotel to work as a waiter, he is forced to do a short cameo as a Sex Guru by his friends from India trying to earn some fast bucks by fooling over stressed Americans as the supposed Guru is down ,overdrunk backstage. Fortunately for him, it works out fine and he finds a fan in a Millionare princess played by Marisa (Sorry I didnt get the last name). A steamy affair with her opens for him, new ways to fool people and earn fast bucks. He is helped unknowingly by Heather who gives him sex counselling with sole intention to make him more comfortable to work in porn movies. Heather has her own story as she loves a religious guy and has been lying to him that shes a school teacher.

During his conselling, Ramu unknowingly falls for her but opts for fast bucks making good money by fooling his followers. He ultimately shuns his Guru status and in a true Bollywood style climax reaches at heathers marriage to propose her. Both realise that they are made for each other and follows a funky happy ending.

Jimi Mistry plays his part with grace and open intelligence. He is sexy and plays his part with great ease. Heather Graham and Marisa are hotttttt and brilliant. The movie is not ladden with slap stick humour and considering the subject of the movie ie ''Sex'', the director does a fine job making it a fun movie rather than a X-ratd comedy. There are many hilarious moments and I would be wasting a lot of space if I describe each of them. The music is good with the foot tapping Chori Chori number, the pick of the lot for me.

In all, a fun movie, strictly not recommended for people not comfortable with sex related jokes. I wouldnt say that you would be comfortable watching it with your family (Indian families) but a sure go-go with friends. Enjoyyyyyyy.
