How The Grinch Stole Christmas - Rated PG – New to Video/DVD

This old Christmas Classic written by the infamous Dr. Suess has been redone for a new generation.

The Story:

In the tiny town of WhoVille, there lived all the Who People. The Who’s love Christmas more than anything. They enjoy the buying and the wrapping and the giving and the receiving, but especially their yearly visit’s from Santa. The one person who does not like Christmas at all is the Grinch (Jim Carrey). He has separated himself from the town of WhoVille and now lives on top of a mountain overlooking this town.

Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen) is a little girl who feels sorry for the Grinch. Shemakes the attempt to get the Grinch excepted into WhoVille. This plan backfires and the Grinch ruins their pre-Christmas celebration. The Grinch decides to get even with the townspeople and steal their Christmas. He dresses up as Santa and puts antlers on his dog and creeps into WhoVille to steal their Christmas.

The next morning when the residents of Whoville awake, they realize their Christmas presents have been stolen. Luckily they realize that the meaning of Christmas is not about gifts. This really ticks off the Grinch, but his heart warms up and a tear forms in his eye.

About the Movie:

Jeffery Price wrote this screenplay based on the Dr. Suess classic and Ron Howard directed it. Anthony Hopkins read the beautiful narration. I was reluctant at first to watch this movie. The original version sat so perfectly in my mind. I am glad I put my reservations aside and watched it now.

Jim Carrey has the ability to become his characters. This is the reason I usually do NOT like his films. But that is the reason I loved this one. He became the Grinch. Every facial expression or voice affect was done perfectly. Kudos to Jim Carrey!

I would recommend this movie to adults and kids alike. The adults who remember the original version should give this one a chance. I don’t think they will be disappointed. Kids who are unfamiliar with the original will be glad to see EITHER version. This will soon become a new Christmas Classic!

Enjoy!
