One of the best musicians ever Indian Cinema witnessed. The best part in their music is the melody with a Dard(Pain) which is so special and consistent which is never seen in any other composer(s). you take any song and it contains an unknown pain in itself. For example a song from movie JAANBAZ “Tera Saath Hey Kitna Pyara” a pure love duet but if you listen it carefully you will find an essence of pain in it and that is the beauty of the song.

People says that K-A never able to get the success that Shakar-Jaikishan & Laxmikant-Pyarelal . In act K-A never attempted to fame. They have had talent as well as a bundle of tunes but they never come for youthful or pure commercial movies. For me K-A are the best. Their golden collection includes 36 songs and not need to mention these are all are gems.

Manna Dey + Kalyanji Anandji

Manna Dey is the singer loved by classes. Ever he sung for K-A history is created some chosen songs are added to this tribute session. All songs are of quality but my personal favorites in the following are # 1 & # 5. Believe me the melody is out of this world and music according to the available techlogy of that time is really cool.

M.Rafi. My best favorite singer. I have listened to many many singers but Rafi kind of voice never came or I should say would never come he closed that chapter with his death in 1980. He sung a lot for K-A and successful as well. The below described songs are all my favorite ones specially the first one the coolest vocal sings the coolest tune. I bet this song is one of the best song ever sung by Rafi Sahib.

Lataji a living legend. Singing for K-A and fortunately she got the best of the tunes. There is no comparison for the song # 2 in the field of sad song it is unanimously the best. You take the other two a Mujra song and the other one sad again coolest music. # 4 makes me speechless.

Kishore Da. This is enough to say about him. A wonderful singer singing in his professional style all way through. K-A used him frankly for all their biggies. # 3 song is the special and path breaking in K-A music category. The song is from movie Don and the song win an award for Kishore Da.

History of Kalyanji Anandji

Brothers Kalyanji and Anandji (K-A) started in the music business assisting singer-composer Hemant Kumar in the early 1950s. Kalyanji's early claim to fame was for playing the famous 'been' (snake - charmer's instrument) for the Man Dole Mera Tan Dole chart topper from Hemant's Nagin (1954). Kalyanji turned solo in the late 50s, initially assisted by Anandji, before they officially became a duo. Chalia in 1961 was their first major hit, but it wasn't until 1965 and the release of Himalay Ki Goud Mein and Jab Jab Phool Khile that K-A became a major force.

Then followed Upkar (1967) and Saraswatichandra (1968), with the latter becoming the first Hindi soundtrack to win the National Award. Throughout the 1970s, Kalyanji-Anandji pretty much kept pace with Laxmikant-Pyarelal and R.D. Burman. They were rewarded with the Filmfare Award for Kora Kagaz in 1974. Their high standard of music continued into the next decade, before they began to fade during the mid- 80s.(I have taken the history from another site it may be wrong but for now it is the finding).

Starting my starting conversation Kalyanji Anandji never attempted fame the fact is cleared by the fact that they have stopped working after 90’s not for lack of work or creativity but for leaving space for new talent. Feroz Khan tries to pull them back but they rejected him and recommend him to get other MD, which he has done half heartedly. Kalayanji is no more now but his work is with us and imagine how gloriously they started and how gloriously they leave. Simply LEGEND.
