Uff, 2006 - 7th month completed and we have whooping successes in Bollywood. This is by far the best year bollywood has seen in last two decades.
Started the year with Sanjay Dutt starring Zinda and Amitabh Bachchan's Family - Ties Of Blood. Not done good on box office but both films were good and you can see one time at least.
Then came Raksheya Mehra’s Rang De Basanti- Starring Aamir Khan with bunch of new comers. This has turned Bollywood upside down. Raksheya with his last few experiments was almost out of Bollywood good director's list but he has made a solid come back. An absolute treat to watch movie RDB. With RDB, I am giving you the list of all movies I like in 2006 so far.
36 China Towna routine comedy thriller by Abbas-Mustan starring Shahid Kapur & Kareena Kapoor. I found story good and performance of all nice.
Fanaa, MisDirectored by Kunal Kohli. This is yet another stunner by The Ace Khan. Pre-release controversy and the return of Kajol make this movie a big success. I feel only week point in the movie is Director only, else this movie could be yet bigger success.
Chup Chup Ke- Priyadarshan with his normal story and better script. It has comedy icons like Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav who has made the movie very nice. Performances of Shahid and Kareena are also too good.
Phir Hera Pheri, a sequel of historic comedy was hilarious. Truly speaking, it was no way near to part 1 but still a good movie. Last sequence in circus was good. This time I felt that they have tried to hard to make us laugh, that’s where they missed a trick.
Aksar, a trio of Imran Hashmi, Udita and Dino has worked well. This is of course a movie by Anant Mahadevan who has passed years in acting. This is one of very few movies of Imran which liked.
Corporate,another power pack movie by Madhur Bhandarkar. This movie has given business world under a question mark. Do they really do such things? I think yes, to certain degree they do so. What I don't like about Madhur is, he is always having negative end. I don't know why ?
Krrish - for me this is The Movie of the Year. Knowing well that Bollywood doesn't get good response to Sequel, Rakesh Roshan had dared to make a sequel and he got a wonderful reward. He has made a super movie. Hrithik is amazing and Priyanka is too charming.I say it is must see movie for all.
Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota, a movie by a legend - Naseeruddin Shah. It is an entertaining film with good actors, not popular but good actors.
Golmaal- Fun Unlimited, one of the latest releases, Golmal has given chance to Ajay to prove that he can do well in Comedy. He has taken support of Comedy specialist like Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi, Tusshar Kapoor and Paresh Rawal. One can see movie at least once.
Malamaal Weekly, another comedy from factory of Priyadarshan. Comedy of a village after lottery. Sequence of mistakes and happenings. I remeber those 3 hours as hilarious 3 hours.
Omkara, I am yet to see this movie but I know in this kind of plot with Ajay and Naseer, I can't dislike movie. It has to be good.
Pyare Mohan, I still wonder how I have seen a movie of Fardeen, Vivek and Esha. I don't like any of 3. But movie was good. Nice comedy by IndraKumar. Hope IndraKumar will go for better star cast next time.
Taxi Number 9211, John and Nana - A deadly combination. Plus if both try to do comedy, God save us. And God in fact helped. With Nana, John and Comedy - an impossible combination has done well. It was a good movie.
Here are some disappointments of 2006. Not necessarily they are hits or flop but I didn't like these movies Mistress Of Spices, The Killer, Tom, Dick & Harry, Alag, Nishabd, Ankahee, Chingaari, Darna Zaroori Hai, Gangster, Shaadi Se Pehle, Fight Club. I don't want to talk much about these films
But look who are waiting in the wings. You can't get bigger than this. Year is not over as many big one are just due to come start with this August.
