Prem's(Ranbir Kapoor), fundas in life were very simple - be happy. make others happy. keep the town happy. But these supposedly simple fundas usually resulted in disastrous consequences for Prem, the members of his Happy Club, and the town! It may have been a case of mistaken identity that led Prem to kidnap Jennifer(Katrina Kaif). And it was sheer greed that made Prem try to pull a fast one over her father. As for sweet and simple Jenny, brought up by indifferent and uncaring foster parents, all she longed was to love and be loved in return. And it was love and only love for Jenny that made Prem turn over a new leaf. From hardly working vagabond he began working hard to make money.
What would you do if you have to kidnap a girl so that she could elope with your friend and in the process you fall in love with her?! Prem is a guy who is always ready to help everyone but his lady luck is not always helpful to him. All his endeavors cause some kind of trouble or the other. The person who has suffered the most because of Prem’s helpful nature is his father! Now one of Prem’s friends is in love with a girl but is facing opposition from her family. To help his friend to elope with the girl, he kidnaps her and he falls in love with her. But soon to his relief, he comes to know that he has kidnapped the wrong girl. His friend does not know her. This girl is Jennifer. Prem apologizes to her and soon becomes a very good friend of hers. And everyday he falls more and more in love with her. But Jennifer loves someone else!
From a besotted Romeo he became a mature and thoughtful Majnu who put Jenny's happiness above everything else.
As for Jennifer . she was so much in love with the idea of being in love that she was blinded by the reality that was staring in her face. The reality that was Prem. The true love that was Prem.
Lastly, a good movie to go.
