This movie believe me is not for people who are looking to die of an heart attack. In fact I will go two steps further in this context and say this aint even a proper horror movie. But it surely is one of the best piece of 'substance cinema'. The 'based on a true story' tagline really helped the movie's cause; Should'nt nythin away from Scott Derrickson (director, story), his screen adaptation is just fantastic.
The casting is fun and elemental to the movie (Campbell Scott's ,Colm Feore's characterization were not upto the mark though!) Jennifer Carpenter is the high point in the entire cast. Her possession scenes are nothing short of incredible. I know this wont sound a bit exciting but I kinda found something more from this movie besides the chills and the thrills of any other horror flick. It's too philosophical in it's procedure.
Anneliese Michel, a young German woman who suffered the same fate the 1970s though was epileptic is the chief inspiration for the movie. n its her story that will touch you the most , not the demons possessing her not the effects in the movie, It's the sheer story telling that will rub off you n u definetly would caryy it with ya for a long time.
4 of 5 for this movie..
