What started as a search for an all day breakfast place ended up being a regular haunt for my guy and me. We'd tried all our regular options for breakfast around Bangalore and seriously the tastebuds in our mouths had been longing for excitement for a long while. It was just then that we finally ventured into the inconspicuous Egg Factory on St. Mark's Road.
The place seems rather quiet for the relaxed college canteen ambience that it sports. But, it is actually the quiet and calm of the place that draws us there so often. Made up to look like a factory, the staff(one person who waits and the chefs) in contrast are rather amicable. They let you make your choice and don't interfere while you munch and chat away in harmony. I'd say the decor and graphics and menu are quite a masterpiece and work of a keen eye.
When you go there, don't ask for a menu, cause on every table are kept manuals for your assistance in the Egg Factory. Yes, the menu is actually designed in the style of a manual that you chance upon in mobile/laptop/etc. cases. It also comes in two languages. I'd say, all copywriters and designers - it's a must see. And for all who love their eggs - a must try.
Quite reasonably priced, the menu offers some very interesting delicacies that have been chosen not just from across the continents but also from across canteens. My personal favorites- The Spicy Egg Bhurji, The Egg Fajitas, Huevos Rancheros(classic Mexican breakfast) and the Parsi Egg delicacies. They have some crazy beverages as well like the Chlorophyll Fix! A hearty anytime breakfast for two with tea/juice would cost around 350 rupees.
Also, if you are up to it, take your time and paint an eggshell to go in the Egg Basket at the door!
My favorite spot - the corner couch with the eggcellent garden view of the Jesuit Education Society next door!
