The Day My God Died documents the tragedy of child sexual slavery and profiles the courageous abolitionists that need our support. On one of my mornings when I was busy for the college...having a sip of coffee and also scrutinicing the morning mail....i just saw that times of india had given a article on child sex trade.....i decided that I have to read this one ...........fantabulos.........or kudos to Andrew Levine......Andrew Levine presented the disturbing picture of the Indian sex trade to a global audience. Andrew Levine, whose film The Day My God Died was recently screened at the Amnesty International Film Festival, tells that he made this film because he loves India

The Day My God Died is a feature-length documentary that presents the stories of young girls whose lives have been shattered by the child sex trade. They describe the day they were abducted from their village and sold into sexual servitude as, “The Day My God Died.”

Filmmaker Andrew Levine has delved into Mumbai’s red light district and emerged with a series of stories that fearlessly detail the rape, torture and slavery that go into sexual trafficking, what he calls “the world’s worst human rights violation”. The film provides actual footage from the brothels of Bombay, known even to tourists as “The Cages,” captured with “spy camera” technology. It weaves the stories of girls, and their stolen hopes and dreams, into an unforgettable examination of the growing plague of child sex slavery.

Through the film we come to know victims such as Gina, sold into sex slavery at age 7 and beaten with sticks and aluminum rods. Anita, lured by a friend then drugged and sold at age 12, was beaten and threatened that she would be buried alive. Girls are gang-raped, beaten and forced to service up to 20 clients a day as they are held in perpetual sexual servitude. One illiterate 11-year-old girl described the first day she was pressed into service as a prostitute “AS THE DAY MY GOD DIED”. It’s also the title Levine has given to his film. Next to the drug and weapon trafficking industry, sexual slavery is the world’s fastest growing black market industry, says Levine, and law enforcement is nearly impossible in a neighbourhood where many of the local cops are clients, too.....andrew decribes inn one of the scences .....The girls are kept in CAGES.....and are freed whenevr teh stiuation arises.........

A must watch for all those who think that there is no life outside thier wells..... After all LIFE WAS NEVER SO BEAUTIFULL
