I am not an avid Batman fan so watching "The Dark Knight" was not on my agenda. Aravind Nair, my chum recently got an offer from Star News(handsome paycheck too) and it was Aravind's idea to catch up for the Batman movie. We'd burnt our fingers with utterly disappointing "Hancock".
On bright Saturday afternoon @ PVR saket, the love affair with Batman began at 16:30 Hrs. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger "The Clown" rule the entire plot of the movie. Both of them vying for greater space on the 70mm screen and the screenplay too.
Heath Ledger who epitomies anarchy wins hands down. Christian Bale looks promising than ever..much better than "Batman Returns"...Gordon was equally good. Michael Cain also delivers.
The story revolves around Gotham , the anarchy unleashed by the Joker gang and the desperate attempts by Batman to nail this gang down. There's something about the Joker whcih makes him almost invincible. He doesn't have any rules.Batman, per se, fights by his rules. The skirmishes between the slimy joker and Batman are feast for eyes , the chase sequences are worth relishing.
In one of the chase sequences, Batman's machine brokes down and then the Batman converts it into his bazooka bike seconds before the vehicle goes into self destruction mode.
Highly recommended for its edge-on-the seat thrills and some inexplicably good plot. Don't ever fall for "Hancock" stuff. Watched Angelina Jolie's "Wanted" promos in the theatre. "Wanted" appears to be a good movie altogether. So all you movie buffs out there, go ahead and grab tickets ..
