Well I read the whole book some days back and must say that it was hell of an experience(in a good way!). It certainly gives a very logical view on what is mystical in the book of bible. I hope all those who have read the book have also watched the Nat Geo programme on the DA Vinci Code previous Sunday 2200 hrs, however, if u missed it then watch the repeat telecsts.
Ne ways here are some points that were discussed in the show -
The authenticity of the idea that jesus was married
Whther Mary Magdalene was a prostitute
Whether Leo da vinci 's paintings actually had any secret symbolic information hidden.
The authenticity of sources used by the author.
The Author Dan Brown was interviewed and I must say the programme was a very well researched one (almost as much as the book itself). So the final revealations were : Ahemmm..
Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute, but a lady who must have been very dear and near to Jesus Christ. This is very exciting coz for around 2000 years (till today) it has been believed that Mary Magdalene was a sinful prostitute and was washing away her sins etc.
It is still not clear whether she and Jesus were married.
Yes it is true that Some very ancient documents related to Jesus's life were found in Egypt, these docs had proofs that Jesus had a special liking towards Mary and preferred her to his disciples. These were written some 300 yrs after Jesus and some scholars think that this is the original Bible (but some disagree on this). But whther these docs had true information ............. No body cud tell that.
The programme narrator also showed a secret book which was found in some well known library in Europe. The Name : 'Dossiers Secret' (Please excuse my french) which had the proof that there existed (or still exists) a secret group called The PS (look in the book for the full form). Not only that - The book also had the list of names of the Grand Masters of the Group -- which had our dear Leo Da Vinci' s name on it. 5. And the one I found most exiting was the Painting codes ... 'The Last Supper ' cud not have been more accurately described by the author . The description in the book matched splendidly with the painting (No I dont have the painting! the narrator showed it on TV). Yes there is actually a hand that did not belong to any one and yes if u see the painting closely u can easily tell that there is a female sitting on the right side of jesus who had lovely Reddish long hair (that is how Mary is shown in other paintings). But the scholars say that it is not Mary but he is a young disciple of Jesus who was called John - - But I think John is too pretty and tender to be a Male and Mr Vinci surely knew how to paint a Young Male. Also, The positions in which Jesus and John (read Mary) were sitting sure made a V shape : The symbol of Chalise : Female (add divine).
In the end , the Nat Geo ppl were somewhat sceptical about jesus's marriage and the existance of 'The Priory' but were sure about the info about Mary. So that's all folks ... I request everyone who liked the book to please watch the repeat telecast as there 're a number of things whihc I have not mentioned here and can be of interest to you. ... Tk care
