I've got to admit it. Dan Brown is more a Researcher than a Writer. The information in the book is so intense that it could add on to the history books. Dan Brown's entourage to the Da Vinci Code is so compelling that it is almost believable. The book is full of real locations and part of the story is based on real history.
This is the part where I must admit that I was turning every page eagerly. I'm a christian and I had heard about the controversy. I had to read the book. After reading it, I paused and breathed a sigh. The book is pure fiction. It is obvious that some point Dan Brown had to fictionise the work in order to fill in the missing information. The whole book is based on a mere fact that Da Vinci's painting were true and held historical importance. At no point did someone think that Da Vinci was a commercial artist, a brilliant painter who spent his money and time more on scientific theory. His paintings were an interpretation of his own beliefs and it could not be accepted as accurate historical evidence. Thereby, the fact remains that nearly two thirds of this book is'purely' fictional and it is a fascinating read.
I had a great time reading this book. I had watched the movie in the theatre, but I was dissapointed.
Anyways, go ahead and read this great masterpiece of fiction. Don't take it too seriously. Not all books are meant to be history books.
