David Fincher is a man who weaves the most basic emotions into a nice clothing called movie. We realized it while seeing Fight club. Here also he sets up a careful tailoring with button(s). Benjamin Button's story is scientifically stated with a highlighted plot "Age reversal".
But suprisingly or 'not surprisingly'(for those who expected "science"), this one is not a science fiction movie, but just about pure human emotions. Those who expect it to be scientific, are surely to get disappointed.
This is not a "Brad Pitt" movie too. It focuses on each and every person that is part of the movie. Cate Blanchett after 'Elizabeth' and 'Aviator' has added another movie to her name for which she will be remembered. Each character stands out different from one another.
What does the movie leave us with? Does it make us think "Can this happen" or "Why can't this happen? or "what if it happens?".Not sure about it.I think it unravels and discusses the very base emotions and limitations of us humans within ourselves. It reminds us that we are nothing and that time is the real hero. Summaries of life are delivered by dialogs like "nothing lasts", "none of us is perfect forever", "It's okay to forget things".
On the whole, "The curious case of Benjamin Button" does touch our hearts in a soft featherly style, not making us cry or weep, but may be think about "life and death".
