Jack Nicholson plays an aggressive rich businessman-(Edward), who owns a hospital corporation—one that stresses patient turnover—opposite Morgan Freeman -(Carter) who plays the role of an auto mechanic , a simpleton of modest means & a family bound middle class man. Edward is complicated, brash and a flamboyant loner, who does not care for relationships.Both of them bounce into each other in their adjacent hospital beds.The story gets started when Edward notices Carter repeatedly tearing & making a fresh wish list again and again. Edward sceptically judges his room mate as an individual, Carter his fellow patient earns his trust, thru his values—and the will to act on it.
Both men are dying of terminal cancer, and have a few months to live & face an imminent painful death, in the tortuous months ahead.Their suffering is shown in vivid scenes.The bucket list is a jolly good buddy movie, which shows how these two men sail thru their remaining lives, having fun all the while , facing their cancer.The Bucket List is a wish list of unfulfilled desires, experiences & bonding before one kicks the bucket.This is not the usual macho man movie but a jolly good buddy movie. Both these old guys buckle up for a refreshingly rocky, touching and humorous ride towards their end.
Funded by Edward's wealth, both go round the world , in a private jet, chase temples, pyramids &fun spots. Parachuting, race car driving and other excursions engage Carter and Edward in their unfulfilled personal achievements.They have fun as they stretch their limits, argue, reflect and express emotion, sharing their intimate success & failures.
The Bucket List explores two different persons in a common struggle. Whether they're addressing grief, discussing the dynamics of marriage and children or visiting a village in the Orient as they prepare to end their lives with dignity, these two men bond in a partnership of grace, decency and joy.
They go thru their bucket list in style with a rebellious streak & lots of fun.Both the seasoned actors fit their roles extremely well.
A refreshingly good movie on attaining personal goals.
