Sorry Leo, this movie just doesn't cut it! This movie wouldn't cut through butter if it was heated up!

Trying to come up with enough word to make a review will be hard on this one. I can sum it up in 4 words. Don't waste your time !

The name of this movie really should be changed from The Beach to The Trash. It was a total letdown. The previews made me think I was going to see a new version of the old movie Lost Horizon, but all I got to see was a plotless, meaningless, mishmash of a story.

Richard(Leonardo DiCaprio) goes to Thailand in search of adventure. Here he meets up with Daffy. Daffy gives Richard a map to The Beach, to paradise. Then daffy slits his wrists and dies.(Or gets killed. Who knows or even cares? However he gets to leave this movie he's lucky. But he does come back for a few moments, in Richard's mind later on.)

Richard meets 2 French tourists, Francoise and Etienne, and persuades them to join him in his search for this paradise. After some time, they decide to join him. So they trek through the jungle in search of The Beach. The special resort, for only special people.

When they arrive, they first encounter fields of dope, which are unfortunetly guarded by nasty drug lords. (Surprise!) They get away and make it to The Beach where they fit in(after a short time) and begin to live the Apocolypse Now(esque) lifestyle.

And the boring plot goes on until the drug lords come and want them all gone.(So do I at this point!) I won't go into detail about the plot because I'd like you to stay awake to at least finish reading this.

Even the beautiful scenery and photography can not make this a movie worth seeing in a theatre, or even renting. The acting was so-so, the plot was so thin you could see through it and I'm sorry I wasted my time watching it on Cinemax.
