When we decided to have a 6 day trip to Goa we decided to stay at a quiet place instead of at the beach. However, most of the places take a lot from your purse to give you peace of mind! Then I came across this place which promises you a serene environment, clean rooms with well equipped bathrooms in a place close to where the party is, at a cost that further broadens your smile! It has just a few reviews online because it’s a recent property and has just 12 rooms, but all reviews were positive.

So I called Sumit, who is the owner and he immediately puts one at ease. In fact when we finally met him it did not feel that we were meeting for the first time. The booking process was a breeze. He will also send a cab to pick you up which is better, as the hotel may be difficult to reach for the uninitiated.

The hotel is in Anjuna which is more like a scenic village with narrow paths and tourist places littered around, unlike Baga and Calangute where all the action is on one street. So around banyan soul and German bakery (which is a few meters away) there are just trees and few small individual homes which give it a very serene environment. It also means that you have to have a 2-wheeler at your disposal to go around. Cabs will fleece you! At night the 2-wheeler is a boon as the streets have very minimal lighting and every home has a dog that keeps barking at you! The beach and flea market are just a 2-minute drive though...just perfectly placed for us!

The rooms are well maintained, with modern furniture and a full length glass door to one side giving it a classy feel. My wife hates lizards and we did not find one in our room, though they were seen outside. The sit outs are made in such a way that you don’t get a view of your neighbours. Each room has a well manicured garden in front. The bathrooms are well maintained with hot water available even at mid night! I would have preferred them to be a little larger though!

Gyanehwar is Sumit’s man friday and he is available all through the day. He even gave his mobile number in case we needed to contact him in night! Food though available from breakfast to dinner is limited. As Sumit himself says and I concur, ‘you do not come to Goa to eat at your hotel’! We used to have a heavy breakfast there and then come back after having dinner. I and my wife loved the masala tea and juices. Though the rest of the food is a bit bland the chicken roll is good for a heavy and spicy breakfast.

Overall, the place delivers what it promises. It’s a great place for couples looking for privacy in a calm environment and also for couples in groups. We know where we would be staying for our next visit..here!!
