Man is a social animal. Right from the early stages, animals has helped mankind in all the possible way they can. This fact itself proves our nearness to the animal kingdom or the animal world. But its very sad the way we treat animals & their natural surroundings. Luke Greenfield the Director of the film “The Animal” has tried to show what it feels to live a life of an animal. He conveys this message through a comical script & an interesting story.
The Cast:
Rob Schneider—Marvin Mange who works as a police evidence file clerk.
Colleen Haskell---Rianna is a tree hugger
Micheal Caton--- Dr Wilder is the physo doctor who cures Marvin Mange
John McGinley--- Sgt. Doug Sisk…..there are many more characters in the film but the ones mentioned above have the main role in this film.
The Story:
“The Animal” is a story about a born looser played by Rob Schneider (Marvin Mange) whose only dream is to become a police officer just like his father. But the only problem in his life is that he is unable to pass the physical endurance test (the basic requirement to become a full fledge police officer). Although he works as a police evidence file clerk Marvin always want to wear the police uniform. One day, Marvin is left alone at the police station & is asked to answer all the phone calls. As you all know that a life of a police officer is not easy, Marvin has to answers a 911 call. Since no ones there at the police station Marvin decides to go & catch the criminals himself. But the bad guys gets away & Marvin ends up in a near fatal car accident.
Marvin is rescued & cured by a Dr.Wilder who has managed to break the genetic code. He manages to save Marvin’s life but in the process he implants animals organs in Marvin’s body. Now even though Marvin looks like a normal person from outside but from the inside he has turned in to an animal. He becomes a police officer because of his abilities to sniff things insides people’s pants & then falls in love with a tree hugger played by Colleen Haskell (The dame from the survivor series). Life becomes very complicated for Marvin once his animal instincts start to take over his human instincts. When his lion instincts takes over his human behavior pattern all hell break loose & his world turns upside down. Though the climax is not what people will like to see, the film ends in a happy note.
Conclusion:
The real star of the film is Rob Schneider whose acting in the film is worth a praise. Even though the story is not very new it is guaranteed to keep you glued to the screen, except when you're cringing behind your hands. Except Rob Schneider no other actor in the film holds any standing in the film industry but you can't say the cast isn't at least esthetically pleasing to look at--& remember pretty people don't necessarily make a good film. Overall if you are looking for enjoyment then “The Animal” is a must see film.
