This is Snigdha. Today I am going to write a review about a book which almost changed my way of living, some how changed the way I used to think about human capabilities….”The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho…

This book comes under fiction category, but I, personally, felt that, through this is a fictional story, the author has shown us how a mere (mere????) human being can change his/her life and how much capable he/she is…

Story:

Well…it is an extraordinary story of an ordinary boy named Santiago…a shepherd by profession. He had chosen to be a shepherd as he liked to travel and discover new places and people around him. One day, while sleeping in an old and broken temple, he had a very very strange dream. And this was the second time he was having this dream. He could not understand anything from the dream. So he went to a dream interpreter and came to know about his destiny for the first time. He became aware and confirmed about his destiny when he met another elderly person calling himself the king of salem….then he started his journey towards his destiny and on the way he met lot of other people along with The Alchemist and the love his life.

the alchemist changed his life…he came to know the truth about the human being’s hidden capabilities and could utilize them on his way towards his destiny…

Now to know the story in detail you need to read the book…it may seem to be a mere story, but when you will read the book you will come to know how this mere story tells the huge secrets of our lives…

My views:

Well, I was in a condition where I needed something which will keep me away from all those things going on inside my mind. And reading a book was obviously a gr8 idea. So one day I went to a book shop…without having the slightest idea of what book I am going to buy. So, I was there, standing like a fool, and looking blankly towards the books on the small bookshelf. Then I saw this book, remembered that I had once read a review on this book…but could not remember a single word from the review…just few words were blinking in my mind… product Recommendation-YES…so I bought that book, without even looking at it for the second time.

I started reading the book the next day…from the very first page I gained an interest and as I read further, my interest started increasing exponentially. I was just reading and reading. Somehow, I just felt as if the author could read my mind, at that very moment. The things which he wrote was the confusions I was having during that period. But it was almost difficult for me to put them in the form of words. I felt as if Paulo Coelho read my mind and solved my problems through his story. I read the whole book within that afternoon. I just wanted to know what the ending of the story was. But I knew, that to understand what the author wants to tell through this book, I would have to read the book once more or may be more. I had read the book twice till now and want to read once more. Each time I read, my thoughts, my behavior, my life started improving.

I realized that though we are just common people, but each person has a dream, a destiny to reach. But the thing is that, you need to know your destiny. Once you know your destiny then only you will be able to go towards it. No wonder, the story was a complete fiction, but the theme behind the story is a reality for every human being. One can fetch his/her dreams and can write & achieve his/her destiny…that is what the story is all about…

You will come to know how influencing this book is once you read this and try to realize the similarities between the simple shepherd & us, his dreams & our dreams, his destiny & our destinies…may be, our dreams and our destinies are different, but what the similarity is that…the destiny is in our hands only…

No doubt this book is an international best seller, and somehow it changed my vision towards the life. This is a review I wanted to write the moment I finished reading “The Alchemist”. I had written these few lines in a letter to somebody. I don’t know how much that person is influenced. And this review is also dedicated to that person only. I hope, one day that person will realize what I mean by writing that letter…
